New Church exists to help people belong, so they can become new through Jesus! Over the last seven years, those of us who call New Church home have seen this vision become a reality hundreds of times. And although it’s no secret we like to celebrate what God has already accomplished, I’m also extremely excited about what I believe He wants to do through us in the days ahead!

That’s exactly why I want to invite you to be a part of what will prove to be a monumental season in the life of our church. No matter where you are on your journey of faith, and no matter what your current level of involvement with New Church looks like, this is an opportunity for you to be a part of history in the making.

God is uniquely positioning us to increase our influence for the cause of Jesus through a 2-year initiative called #MYNC. As you read about what we have planned for the next couple of years, I encourage you to consider the part God wants you to play in this endeavor. Imagine what He will accomplish through our church when every single one of us decides we’re going to invest in the eternal—we’re going to dedicate ourselves to significant sacrifice—we’re going to declare through our actions…This is #MYNC! I can’t wait to go on this journey with you!

FAQ'S

+ What is the #MYNC Initiative?

God is uniquely positioning New Church to increase our influence for the cause of Jesus through our investment in this 2-year initiative, which addresses three critical areas of opportunity. We will invest in our COMMUNITY through our first permanent campus and our community outreach partnerships. We will invest in our CULTURE through strategic leadership development and intentional racial reconciliation efforts. We will invest in CHURCH PLANTING through our current church-planting partnerships and two additional church plants.

+ Will our church change?

Our vision to help people belong, so they can become new through Jesus will not change. The mission, core values, philosophy, and vibe of our church will not change. However, the way we fund our current and future ministry objectives will change for the better, which will enable us to become more effective for the cause of Jesus.

+ Why do we need a building?

Simply put, we want to help more people. We want to see more people become new through Jesus, take next steps in their journey of faith, build a strong family legacy, and make a positive impact in our community. We believe this will happen most effectively through dedicated ministry space designed to meet the needs of the people we get to serve.

+ What will the children’s and student spaces look like?

Our children’s environments will be exciting, fun, and safe spaces designed specifically for each age group to experience God on their level and in their current stage of life.

Our middle and high school students will meet in shared space that offers an exciting environment with state-of-the-art sound, video, and lighting.

+ How did we get the land?

In July of 2016, we purchased property in the Pfafftown area. The faithfulness of the people who call New Church home to give generously over the first few years of our existence allowed us to pay half of the cost upfront. We financed the other half, and as a result of sacrificial giving through two special offerings, we were able to pay off the remainder of the land in less than six months.

+ How much will the building cost?

We estimate the total cost of campus development to be $5 million, which includes architecture, engineering, construction materials, labor, and everything necessary to begin operating effectively.

+ Can we afford this building? Will we have debt?

We can’t afford to be without this building when we consider what the future holds. As we continue to grow in numbers, we are rapidly approaching capacity in our current portable location. This vision will become a reality when everyone who calls New Church home decides to dedicate themselves to a significant amount of sacrifice over the next two years.

We will utilize a conservative approach toward financing to help us complete this project, but we will incorporate an aggressive strategy to pay off any necessary debt we incur. We affirm what the Bible teaches about debt, including not being enslaved to it and counting the cost of it. The form of debt we are planning for is best compared to a mortgage, whereby we will obtain a loan for a specific purpose.

Acquiring debt during seasons of rapid growth and expansion, like the one we’re currently experiencing, is a tension we expect to continue to manage for the next several years. We will accommodate a responsible, manageable level of debt when necessary in order to leverage the incredible opportunities we are given to reach more people with the love of Jesus. Of course, planned repayment is part of being responsible. The larger the down payment, the smaller the loan, which we believe is wise management of the resources God has entrusted to us.

+ What type of outside help are we receiving for this initiative and the construction project?

We have contracted with two separate companies to assist us in this endeavor. Generis is providing consultation with our generosity initiative, and Specialized Planning & Architecture for Church Environments, LLC (SPACE) is guiding us through design and project management for the building, as well as overall campus development. Both of these companies are experts in their fields and are industry leaders in church expansion.

+ How long is the construction process? When will we move in?

From the time we break ground, we estimate it will take ten months to one year until our building is completed and becomes operational. When we move in is contingent upon how quickly we receive the necessary funding to begin the construction process.

+ Will there be more construction in the future?

Yes. The master site plan for this campus contains two phases. Phase 1 will include a 23,000 sq. ft. building with a 400-seat auditorium and room for 120 occupants in children’s environments. Phase 2 will expand the building to 27,000 sq. ft. with a 599-seat auditorium and room for 200 occupants in children’s environments.

The Phase 2 expansion will begin when we have reached capacity in Phase 1 through multiple services, and when our growth goals related to finances, attendance, and ministry have been realized. The Phase 1 plan for our campus is going to provide us with the necessary space to achieve these goals.

+ What is a One Fund generosity initiative?

One Fund is a unique approach that will help us acquire the resources necessary to equip and unite our church to most effectively accomplish what God has called us to do, both now and in the future. In order to see this God-inspired vision become a reality, every financial gift received over the course of this 2-year initiative will go into the #MYNC fund. As a result, every Sunday becomes an opportunity for us to celebrate and contribute to what God is doing now, as well as what he wants to achieve through us later.

+ What are you asking of me?

We want you to join us on the #MYNC journey. Start by praying and asking God for guidance in how he wants you to contribute to this initiative. Prepare your heart to hear him, and then say yes to what he’s leading you to do. If you’re married, talk with your spouse about it. Gather your family together to discuss what this commitment will mean for the next two years of your lives. Finally, respond to the generosity you have received through Jesus as you give generously to help others become new through Jesus!
